My job is one of the strangest things to define. I guess at the end of the day the job description is simple....I must be able to help people buy and sell a piece of Real Property and I've come to learn that if you don't love something you cannot stand behind someone else's buying decision. There are some interesting ingredients that comprise that end result, most of which take place behind the scenes and some of which are adversarial in nature. It's high stakes and high pressure, and everything required must be done while veiled in tact, effervescence, ease, and simplicity. A tall order for most. So why not LOVE what you do and where you are doing it?
As my business evolves and grows I find myself narrowing my practice often but not for the reasons some would think, I narrow my focus because I find things I love... obsessively love, and what generates that intense interest for me is in places I see value, I see that value instinctively and immediately and I have come to trust my instincts beyond a shadow of a doubt.
The whole idea of a laser-focused Real Estate practice for me was a scary endeavor at first, however there was no longer enough time for me to cover a 300km radius and 3 different counties, let alone be an expert source of information and guidance to those who would become my clients. Again I was faced with working a chaotic market or narrowing my focus. I reduced my geographic reach to the Cowboy Trail.....but I was unsure of where I wanted that to begin and to end. So once again I narrowed my focus, I knew a few things now, I knew that I loved home, I loved all the people who I share this amazing community with and I knew that I was so passionate about the hamlet of Bragg Creek that I needed to remain devoted to my local practice, helping people buy and sell property. I knew that I also had an obsession with highway 762 and every single little country road that was an offshoot from it, I knew I loved the valleys and the ridges and the views, that too was my market. If you head south on the 762 you will come to the 549, an area that is also pure magic. If you head west of the 549 you will hit K-Country, Messa Butte, and the Maclean Creek Day use area, if you head East you will arrive in the pristine open area that is Millarville and if you stay South you will find yourself lost on a wining road that is blissful and seeminly from another era. This I knew was the complete triangle of what I consider my geographic area of focus and I LOVE IT, I would live in every single area of my focus. My perceived value of rural and country residential property is palpable and transfers to every single property I sell. I have since narrowed further, giving up my personal commercial practice and finding a wonderful Realtor that is able to help my clients in that market. So, here I land. In love with the people I work for, obsessed with the communities in which I serve, partnered with extremely trustworthy Realtors in the areas I do not serve and most importanty happily serving you, in Bragg Creek, 762, Priddis, Millarville, and the 549. Living, Loving, and Giving where I work.
